EU BATTERY COMPLIANCE · REGULATION (EU) 2023/1542

Battery QR codes.
From regulatory requirements to digital information.

From 18 February 2027, batteries must bear a QR code under Article 13(6) of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. The requirement also concerns portable batteries incorporated into finished products.

We support EU manufacturers and importers in gathering supplier data, checking documentation and preparing QR-linked battery information.

QR code on the battery

The QR code is generally affixed directly to the battery. Alternative placement is permitted only under the conditions set out in Article 13.

Accessible information

For portable batteries, applicable labelling information, the EU declaration of conformity and relevant end-of-life information must be accessible as required by the Regulation.

Document review

A QR code alone does not demonstrate compliance: its information, traceability and placement must be assessed.
